KLES Blue Ribbon School Celebration
KLES was awarded the 2004 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools award on Friday, September 17, 2004. The No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.
Students, teachers, staff, administration and parents of Killearn Lakes Elementary were honored for being a Blue Ribbon School. Our special guest speaker Glenda E. Hood, Secretary of State for the State of Florida congratulated our entire school community. Other special guests attending the celebration were Sharon Burnette, Governor's Teacher in Residence; Fred Varn, School Board member; D.J. Wright, Leon County District Office and Lesa Hart, KLES PTA president.
The complete list of the schools will be posted on the Department's website on September 17 at this address: http://www.ed.gov/programs/nclbbrs/index.html. The Secretary will also send a personal letter to the principal of each school that will receive the award.
